Kids, they are a funny species....

First want to start with the "pleading face" pic of Myles:

ROFL! He is a goof! You should see it in person! It gets me every time and he knows it! I wonder when the cuteness of it will wear off! ROFL!
It was a long day today. I had a couple daycare kids that were refusing to sleep. Made for a LONG day. One more day, then the weekend! Yippee!
It was a great day yesterday. Slow daycare day so Myles and I got to do LOTS of snuggling. I do enjoy the daycare and it was the right decision for our family, but it is days like yesterday that make me miss not working. I miss Myles! He is with me all day long, but most days it is so busy that I don't get to get good quality time in with him. Then the nights are so busy helping with homework, reading with kids, bathing kids, cleaning the house, and prepping for the next day that it is hard to make time for memory making! That makes me sad and it is one of my New Years Resolutions! Make the time. They will only be little for so long, I am going to soak in every second I can!
Kids school week is over! They get a four day weekend! Lucky ducks! We have a full house tomorrow! Including my kiddos, we will have 11 kids for most of the day! Then we gain a couple nephews for Friday night and all day Saturday! Should be fun! :)

Life just takes over some times.....

It has been a few days since I posted. I don't know where the time goes. Life can be so crazy and full speed. So busy, yet it is hard to tell you what has gone on!

Trysten had a girls night on Saturday night, and invited a couple girls over to spend the night. It is amazing and sad at the same time to see how much the slumber parties have changed. It used to be little girls playing house, barbies, dolls of some kind, and now it is giggly girls talking about boys and making music videos! Love to see her making memories with her friends too. We finished her AR book tonight. It is a lot of commitment from mom here, to help her finish. Trysten is dyslexic, and hasn't been given the proper tutoring yet to learn to read the way she needs to learn. So much of the reading falls on mom. It's ok, now I can say I have read a book without pictures (with the daycare that hasn't happened in a LONG time!) LOL!

August and Myles spent the night with Grandma and Grandpa Darrach Saturday night, and got spoiled, of course. They had a great time and didn't want to come home! I am so glad that my kids will have memories of grandparents! I always missed that. So it just makes me so happy!

Bryan and I shopped for bedroom furniture on Saturday to replace our furniture and upgrade to a king sized bed. Yay! We found a beautiful set, so we will hand our dressers down to the boys. They desperately need new dressers, so that is how I am justifying it! LOL!

Sunday was spent very very lazy! Not much done except for lay around, veg, watch tv, and play the wii. We did have to get some laundry done. Boo! Isn't there ALWAYS laundry to rain on your parade?!

Speaking of nagging housework, I still have a kitchen to clean before bed, so I had better hop to it! I jokingly said I wanted a wife on facebook the other day, but really, I think that might not be a bad idea! LOL!

UGH. Not sure about this site.....

I uploaded a picture for my profile and no matter WHAT I do it is sideways. So screw it! It is sideways! Kind of representative of my day. And week. So glad tomorrow is Friday!

Let's see, what happened that was noteworthy today.....

My sweet, loving, thoughtful August, told me he thought he was the "runt" of the family. My heart dropped. Was my fear coming true?! I HATE the thought of him feeling like a middle child. HATE. IT. He said that he felt like no one understood him. That he is kind of an alien. My poor baby. There are moments as a mother if you wonder if you are doing the right things. Ugh. So we snuggled for a bit, I told him how wonderful he was and how he occupies a big chunk of my heart and if he ever needed reassuring, I am his man! He laughed at that part. I hope he knows I meant it...

Read with Trysten again. Not sure about her book. I think it is called Perfect. Or Perfection? About a girl with bulimia. Kind of graphic. And depressing. I am hoping it gets better and stops sounding like a "how to" book for bulimics.

We watched Wipeout tonight as a family. So funny! Man that would be fun to do! Myles loves that show the most I think. He always asks, even as we JUST start watching, "is that guy going to win?" "is that lady gonna win?" LOL. He is a hoot.

I am so very ready for the weekend. This week has been so long. I want to sleep in. The kids want to have sleepovers with their friends. Relaxation sounds really good. One more day!

Out of the mouths of babes...

Just thought I would start with a Myles funny. He came out to the kitchen tonight and told me that his sister gave his butt a purple nurple! So funny!

It has been hard to get to this site to blog. I may be looking for a new site soon. Bear with me...

Kids had a good day today. When Trysten tells me about her day she sounds so....teenage. It makes me smile and makes me sad at the same time. I love that she likes to fill me in on all of her girly drama goings ons. I hope she and I are always this close!

After supper I went in to her room to read with her and her room is such a mess and it makes me crazy! My room was a pit when I was growing up too, so why does it grow to bother me so much?! Makes my blood pressure boil. LOL. I just climbed over things on her floor, made room for myself on the bed, and tried not to look around much! LOL! I know that one day, we will just remember the laughs we shared and not so much how high my BP was when I caught sight of her room! Right?!

August was kind of scarce tonight. He is just a "on his own" kind of kid. He is very good at occupying himself, even when we want to hang with him. Then if he does hang out with us, he is driving us bonkers by talking non-stop about Harry Potter this or that. Ugh. He does say the sweetest things though. At bed time, he came to tell me that Myles was mad at me and said I was mean because I wouldn't let him sleep with Trysten (we were still reading her AR book), and he told Myles that mom wasn't mean and that I was the best mom in the world and that he should NEVER say that again. LOL. It really didn't hurt my feelings what Myles said. But August was worried it might. So sweet. That is my August. Always caring about others feelings. God I love that kid!

Myles had a headache this afternoon. Poor guy. I hope he isn't coming down with something. He actually slept this afternoon at nap time. Not usual for him. Anyway, like I said above, he was mad at me at bed time. Not really mad, just couldn't believe that I told him no apparently! He is definately the baby of the family, and knows how to work it! He does this funny pleading face that melts my heart every time, even though I know it is a ploy! I will have to try to take a picture of it if he cooperates and will ham it up for the camera. If I can get it I will post it tomorrow!

Well, I am going to head off to bed so that I can muster the energy to get up and do it all again bright and early tomorrow. Off to kiss the kiddos!

First day back to school

Trysten and August started back to school today after Christmas break.  I missed them.  They both said they had good days back, and seemed to just jump right back into their routine.  I was a bit more reluctant to jump back into it!  LOL!  Myles would have liked an extra day for just he and I to snuggle.  I have to say, I wouldn't have minded either!

Older kids had karate today.  They are so impressive.  They are learning to use a staff.  Not sure how it all works, but it sure looks cool when they are practicing.  Trysten has her second belt promotion test coming up.  I can't believe she will be a green/blue belt!  We are so proud of her!  August is doing well too, he just isn't as passionate about it right now.  But we are glad he is sticking it out because it is so very good for him.

The boys' Christmas gift from mom and dad came today.  The Harry Potter DVD set.  They are so excited!  We went over to mom and dad's tonight so Bryan could help them with something so they didn't get to watch any tonight.  Man, those movies are LONG!  I have never seen them all either.  But I am excited for them.

Trysten is having fun deciding what to wear to school every day.  She got a dress form for her room and she has been dressing it each night with the clothes that she plans on wearing the next day.  She is growing up so fast!  I swear she seemed taller today than she did yesterday!

Well, another day in the books.  Bryan and I are going to relax for a bit, watch some Hoarders and head to bed.  Bryan loves his job, and I love mine, but would love to not have to worry about working and just be together every day.  Wouldn't that be lovely?!

Now that kids are all in bed....

I have a few minutes to do some reflecting.  This last year was a great year for our family.

Lots of firsts.

I started my daycare, which was such a great decision for our family.

We got our first truck and camper, and had the most amazing time over the summer!  We made the best memories!  I think we camped almost every weekend!  I think we may have missed 4 weekends!

Trysten started school in the middle school!  How can that be?!  She was just a baby, wasn't she?!  She is such an amazing girl.  I remember her being this little chatty toddler with pig tails and big blue eyes!  Now she is a chatty tween who rolls those big blue eyes at me at LEAST 20 times a day!  There have been other firsts with her this year, but she would TOTALLY kill me if I talked about them here!  Suffice it to say that her father would like to throw away all of her sweaters out because he said they all have bumps, lol!  Ok...enough.

August is pretty stead fast.  He is just.....August.  He is an incredible kid.  He enjoyed our camping adventures and has become quite a good swimmer.  He is very independent and keeps himself very busy.  He has discovered the wonders of Harry Potter.  He is reading the novels and has quite a few of the lego sets.  He is doing well in 3rd grade and just told me this evening that he is excited to get back to school to see his friends!  What a sweet boy!

My Myles.  What can I say.  He keeps us laughing.  He says the funniest things!  I am excited to have a place to write them down to remember them forever!  He enjoyed our camping as well this year.  He wanted to sleep in the camper even when we weren't camping!  Myles had his first day of preschool this last fall, and unfortunately only went for about 2 weeks.  He just wasn't ready, we will try again this Fall.  He is, of course, into Harry Potter also.  Anything August loves, Myles loves.  They are two peas in a pod!

Alright, I have to prepare for our day tomorrow.  Kiddos have to go back to school tomorrow, and Bryan back to work after having almost 2 weeks off!  I am going to miss everyone!  But lots of new memories to be made, so on we go!

My first blog

I decided to blog to capture memories on paper for my kiddos.  I like the idea of printing out the blog at the end of the year and saving it for them to read one day.  I am not much of a writer, but I have good material to go from!  The things these kids say and do are too funny some times!  So, Happy New Year!  I hope I can keep this up!  :)
